• Created contract language restricting the district from unfairly transferring teachers and health and human service professionals.
• Removed lemon principals from school sites.
• Established a process in West Area for school sites to choose their school administrator.
• Supported parent school relationships through community forums and school council trainings.
• Represented West Area in selecting the District 3 Superintendent.
• Increased West Area participation at UTLA demonstrations.

As a fulltime classroom teacher for 14 years and the current West Area Chair, I served our Area as a Chapter Co-Chair, House of Representatives member, former Chair of the Inner City Committee, CTA State Council delegate, nine-time delegate to the NEA/RA, Chair of Class Size Reduction Taskforce, UTLA Leadership Conference Co-Chair and Board of Directors member.

I will continue the progress we have started and I pledge to:

• Fight for lower class sizes in all levels.
• Mobilize school sites to control selection and re-selection of administration.
• Demand a substantial pay increase and an accurate paycheck.
• Work tirelessly to bring West Area concerns to the district and our Union.

West Area’s Leadership is committed to creating opportunities for members to collaborate, interact and engage with the membership. Let’s continue the fight to advance our profession and our Union.
