An Experienced Leader
I want to thank everyone for your continued support during my term as member of the UTLA Board of Directors, Special Education. With the help of President Duffy and the United Action Coalition we have achieved:
- Lowered Class sizes in Special Day Classes
- Stipends for Special Education teachers
- Plus a 6% pay raise in 2007
As a Special Education teacher at Wilson High School, I know we need to continue to push the District to improve working conditions . Coordinators sitting behind their desks can’t appreciate the hard work we teachers do everyday.
I joined UTLA in 1983 as an emergency credentialed teacher standing on a picket line. In 1989, I was a strike coordinator and I picketed at two sites. I believe that I am the only candidate running for this office who walked a picket line in 1989.
I am most proud that I never crossed our picket lines and I never will!
