We have increased salaries and fought all concessions on health benefits. We have reduced class sizes. These were what I committed to advocate for three years ago and that is what I will continue to fight for if reelected.
There is another reason I am running for reelection: our work is far from done. Mandated assessments, pacing plans and the punitive edicts of No Child Left Behind are still with us. Too much of our teaching is pressured to be oriented towards testing and test taking skills.
As a union we need to organize school by school and area by area to build the power necessary to take on the district about the school and classroom issues that really matter. We need even more power if we are going to take on Sacramento to get the resources that we need to improve education.
Vote for Cathrine R. Proctor and the rest of the United Action Team!
We Stand For:
- Further Class Size Reduction
- Increased local Decision Making
- Substantial Pay Raises
- Elimination of Top-Down Mandates
