Javier Romo

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all my Valley West brothers and sisters who endorsed and supported my election to the Board of Directors. Thank you also for reelecting Irma Fraigun and Colleen Schwab.

I will work hard to promote and protect the rights and best interests of all members, while working for the respect our profession deserves.

I will speak out and challenge LAUSD, and when necessary our union leadership. We must fight for better salaries and benefits, while expanding teacher rights. Our union needs to be in a position of power, along with organizing and mobilizing our members into unity and action.

The future holds many challenges for us as educators and as UTLA members. We must steadfastly pursue the best possible education for every student in the state of California, whether in preschool or graduate school. Neither political expediency, economic limitations, nor social constraints can be allowed to stand in the way of quality and equity for our students. We must work together to strengthen public education and UTLA.

In closing, UTLA must make members’ needs its number one priority. The essence of UTLA is improving the salary, benefits, and working conditions of its members. UTLA must continue to produce the best learning environment possible for our students, slate of candidates, citywide, and in special constituencies.

Vote for Javier Romo and the rest of the United Action Team!

We Stand For:

  • Further Class Size Reduction
  • Increased local Decision Making
  • Substantial Pay Raises
  • Elimination of Top-Down Mandates
