UTLA faces many challenges both local and in Sacramento that demand that all of us be active and involved in our Union.

As your representative on the UTLA Board of Directors, my goal has been and will always be to respond to member needs— UTLA's first priority.

 


I believe that this combination of service and activism is the key to building a strong union. If we want to make real changes that benefit both students, teachers, and parents, like more autonomy for school sites (like I helped pioneer at Parkman Ave School with the Expanded SBM Governance Structure), continued class size reduction, and an end to mandated curriculum and assessments, we have to have the power to confront the district and decision-makers in the State Legislature. We have to service and organize.
