Steve Seal

Public education is a human right and our schools should be places where our children are safe, challenged, and educated.

I am a product of the public education system and am committed to working to improve it. This is why I teach, and why I want to continue to be a UTLA Director.

We must work to insure that NCLB leaves no more children behind. Privatization of our schools is not the answer and we must move away from unfunded mandates, scripted programs, and otherwise disengaging curriculum that creates mediocrity in our schools. Our district is changing and we need to be on the front lines of moving education forward. As a member of the Harbor Area leadership team I will continue to work to:

  • Continue to develop, with school leaders, a strong and active union.
  • Oppose merit pay in any form.
  • Resist the further encroachment of charter schools into our district.
  • Fight for continued pay raises.
  • Get more autonomy for school sites.
  • Bring respect back to our profession.

Re-elect me to the UTLA-NEA Board of Directors and I will continue to work with a collective voice to fight for our rights as teachers.

Vote for Steve Seal and the rest of the United Action Team!

We Stand For:

  • Further Class Size Reduction
  • Increased local Decision Making
  • Substantial Pay Raises
  • Elimination of Top-Down Mandates
