Paulette Shelley

I am a special education teacher at Horace Mann MS where I have taught for 13 years. Over the last seven years, I have enthusiastically involved myself in UTLA.

In August 2007, I was honored with the Unsung Hero Award in which my fellow colleagues and union activists demonstrated their perception of the worthiness, commitment and energy I provide to UTLA. Some ways I have built UTLA include:

  • Chapter Chair
  • CTA State Council
  • UTLA/NEA Representative Assembly
  • House of Representatives
  • South Area Steering Committee
  • South Area Cluster Leader
  • PACE Committee
  • Special Education Committee
  • Secondary Committee
  • UTLA/NEA Humans Rights & Equity for Women Issues Representative
  • Chair, WHO Committee

I want UTLA to increase its membership strength and focus in order to improve public education. It is my goal to increase member awareness and participation. I will continue to motivate and encourage all members to maintain the existence of safe public schools for our children and educators. If elected, I believe I can work collectively to strengthen union activism; assist in ensuring educators are treated fairly, respected and provided equality of pay. I stand representing all of my colleagues as an activist of our union.

Vote for Paulette Shelley and the rest of the United Action Team!

We Stand For:

  • Further Class Size Reduction
  • Increased local Decision Making
  • Substantial Pay Raises
  • Elimination of Top-Down Mandates
