Phyllis Williams

This is my 20th year serving the teachers of Central Area as either a member of the House of Representatives, Board of Directors or as Chapter Chair. I would like to continue bringing my experiences as Area Chair and as a member of United Action to work for a more cohesive union.

Two and a half years ago UTLA bargaining members spoke up about the need for change. In that time we have faced many obstacles and challenges, such as the BTS foul up, the designated high priority schools, small learning communities, health benefits, scripted programs, competitive salary increases, and school safety. The issues mentioned have not all been resolved but the knowledge gained, skills used and united efforts have kept our profession in the forefront in showing what happens when we believe that teachers united will never be defeated.

As teachers we need to be prepared, bold and united in action as we continue our struggle for respect as professionals. The experience demonstrated by the United Action leadership in collaboration with teachers like you will be invaluable to our profession in the coming years.

Let’s continue with the leadership that Duffy, Josh, David and Julie have provided. Let’s add the proven leadership of Betty Forester, Gregg Solkovits, and Jimmy Woods-Gray for a United Action team that will work for teachers.

Vote for Phyllis Williams and the rest of the United Action Team!

We Stand For:

  • Further Class Size Reduction
  • Increased local Decision Making
  • Substantial Pay Raises
  • Elimination of Top-Down Mandates
