An Experienced Leader and Advocate

I have served in this position for the last six years fighting for parity for adult education teachers. I want to keep up the fight for equity in working conditions with our K-12 colleagues. I believe it is also essential to continue to increase the visibility of adult education issues within UTLA, the division, and the district. The critical issues are:

  • Restoration of tenure for adult education teachers and opening tenure to Career Tech Ed teachers
  • Protection of programs for adult students at our occupational centers
  • Professionalization for adult education teachers, including a salary schedule, with paid preparation time Revitalization of adult education programs and professional development

I have vigorously represented adult education issues within UTLA, as well as at the state and national levels. My experience includes:

  • Two terms on the UTLA Board of Directors representing adult and Career Tech Ed teachers; member UTLA House of Reps
  • Service on UTLA Budget, Professional Development, and Grievance Review Committees
  • Delegate to the AFT and NEA conventions
  • Delegate to the CTA State Council and CFT conventions
  • Founding member of CTA & NEA adult education caucuses
  • Led successful implementation of NEA declaration of parity for adult education teachers

A Vision for Adult Education

Marc will fight for EQUITY

with K-12 teachers in salary, benefits and working conditions through:

  • Restoration of tenure for Adult Ed teachers and opening tenure for Career-Tech Ed (CTE) teachers
  • A salary schedule, with paid prep time, for Adult Ed teachers
  • Protection of services for our adult students at our occupational centers
  • Greater visibility for Adult Ed issues within UTLA
  • Elimination of contractual provisions that keep Adult Ed teachers in contingent worker status
